Tongji University Design Competition

From June 2nd to June 9th, 2024, six students worked together to create a pavilion inspired by a poem written by Yang Wanli.

Where two rivers meet

Confluence: the junction of two rivers, especially rivers of approximately equal width.

The pavilion fosters an interaction that begins without first impressions, as participants sit separated by a wall, unable to see one another.

Instead, their voices resonate through the space, weaving a tapestry of shared experiences as they describe what they perceive.

This auditory exchange transforms the act of communication into an intimate exploration of perspective, inviting individuals to connect on a deeper, more imaginative level.
